yamaha zuma

this yamaha scooter seems like a direct competitor to the honda ruckus. the 50cc version comes as a 2-stroke (through the 2011 model year), while the 125cc zuma is a 4-stroke.

i’ve heard that only one of the headlights lights up for normal riding, and to have both lights on, you need to turn on your high beams. apparently, it causes folks to tell you that one of your lights is burned out.

this must be one in-demand scoot… prices are pretty high for a used scoot.

a note on the 50cc zuma: 2011 and older is a 2-stroke, 2012 and beyond is 4-stroke.

50cc

3/2/13: $1400, east boston, 2004 with 100 miles, red. no picture, but might be worth checking out with such low mileage.

6/5/12: $1895, plymouth (from pilgrim power sports), 2009 with ??? miles, black. price is a bit high, but it’s from a dealer, so that cuts down the risk a bit.

4/26/12: $1600, boston/arlington, 2009 with 3000 miles, black.

4/23/12: $2100, medford, 2009 with ??? miles, blue, custom pipe. i usually don’t post modified scooters here, but a custom pipe won’t affect the scooters reliability much. that said, this price is way too high.

3/24/12: $1050, dartmouth, 2004 with 3500 miles, blue.

2/19/12: $1500, “southeastern mass”, 2008 with 3280 miles, blue.

2/7/12: $1200, boston, 2008 with 6000 miles, blue.

9/27/11: $1500, hamilton, ??? year with 1800 miles, unknown color. wow, that’s not a lot of info, is it?

9/25/11: $1500, everett, 2008 with ??? miles, unknown color. this seems like a perfectly good price for a great scooter, but the lack of specifics in the ad are a little worrisome. if someone put so little thought into their craigslist ad, how much thought did they put into taking care of their scooter?

9/14/11: $1495, dartmouth, 2004 with 3500 miles, blue.

9/10/11: $700, holbrook, 2003 with 2800+ miles, unknown color. “excellent condition, stored indoors”. seems like a great deal, if all of this is true.

8/5/11: $1000, mission hill, 1989 with ??? miles, blue/white. price revised on 8/14/11 to $750. guess the old look zumas aren’t too appealing.

8/5/11: $1400, nantucket, 2005 with ??? miles, black w/ red flame graphic.

7/29/11: $1700, watertown, 2009 with 1000 miles, black w/ red flame graphic.

7/24/11: $1000, clinton, 2008 with unknown miles, black w/ red flame graphic. this scooter is missing the left mirror.

125cc

4/1/12: $2200, new bedford, 2009 with 4000 miles, yellow.

12/11/11: $1700, south east, 2009 with 4000 miles, blue.

12/1/11: $2300, dartmouth, 2009 with 1200 miles, blue. reposted on 12/15/11. reposted on 1/30/12 for $1999.

10/21/11: $1900, boston, 2009 with 3988 miles, black. probably negotiable on price. price on 10/20/11 was $2100. reposted on 11/8/11 for $1890. wow. a whole $10 cheaper.

9/27/11: $2200, harwich, 2009 with under 2000 miles, black. reposted on 11/4/11 for $1900.

9/19/11: $2800, melrose, 2009 with 1186 miles, raven black.

9/7/11: $1900, northern rhode island, 2009 with 2915 miles, raven black. sport exhaust and upgraded suspension, too.

7/27/11: $3500, nashua (nh), 2010 with 250 miles, black. not really my business, but this seems especially overpriced, since the MSRP of a new 125cc zuma is $3250.
