scooter pic of the day: some more of tom burick’s custom trailer work, this time on a 2013 honda metro. according to tom, he feels like the trailer actually makes the scooter ride with more stability. if you’ve got a bit of disposable income and you want a sharp trailer for your 50cc scoot, contact him— he might be up for it!
hot off the press from scooterfile, a terrific site devoted to scooters, with articles from multiple authors: honda introduced it’s latest concept bike, the cross cub 110. it’s just a concept vehicle, but i’m pretty sure i’m ready to trade in my scooter for this right now.
scooter pic of the day: tom burick builds pretty snappy looking trailers for 50cc scoots! here’s a pic of him building one for his ruckus. he took the 50cc ruckus (with trailer) across the country to raise money to fight child sexual abuse. that is some serious commitment. he’s built quite a few other trailers, too; pics coming in a few days. thanks, tom, for the pics!
scooter pic of the day: this sharp 1974 honda cl360 scrambler with only 2500 miles is for sale on craigslist maine. super snazzy.
scooter pic of the day: the honda cbr250r, honda’s worthy competitor to the ninja, as seen at the boston motorcycle expo. i like that more entry level bikes are starting to have fuel injection; that trend is even starting to make it’s way over to scooters!
scooter pic of the day: i saw this honda nc700x at the boston expo last weekend. this is one of the few motorcycles available with an automatic transmission.
scooter pic of the day: in 2009, honda showed off their ev cub concept bike. unfortunately, it went the way of most other concept vehicles, and it didn’t make sense to produce it. it’s too bad; it would have been one of the best looking two wheeled vehicles on the road.
scooter pic of the day: the honda sh150 display at eicma in an aerotrim-esque machine. it’s like honda is preparing to send this scooter to space. maybe that makes sense; it’s not selling very well here!
scooter pic of the day: i enjoyed skyfall, the latest james bond installment, over the weekend. it’s was an odd mix of new era, daniel craig james bond with some heavy-handed references to the 1960’s and 1970’s bond movies. still pretty exciting, though. the opening scene features a chase scene in turkey with some pretty impressive motorcycle driving. it turns out all the bikes were modified honda crf250r’s. gary powell, a stunt coordinator for the film, said:
“we needed a highly versatile and quality off-road motorbike that could be easily modified, without compromising performance or safety, for the opening sequence of skyfall. honda’s crf’s are probably the best off-roaders out there so it’s great that we’ve been able to partner with honda as the bikes, whilst heavily modified, were superb to work with.”
scooter pic of the day: a israeli man on a scooter talks to a soldier as they are surrounded by ultra-orthodox jews of the bratslav hasidic sect, that gathered to show support for the forces in southern israel, close to the israel gaza strip border. the scooter looks like a honda sh150. more importantly, it’s great that the cease fire seems to be holding there.
scooter pic of the day: i was going to post this on election day, but i couldn’t find any scooter-related pictures that involved romney. i wonder if any campaigners have analyzed the political leanings of scooterists?
scooter pic of the day: honda is introducing a new 4-stroke 50cc scooter to the u.s. and european market, the ncr50r. while i’m not wild about the styling of the front of the scooter, i do appreciate the bigger wheels. expected colors: pearl white, gray metallic, and the above repsol colors. they’ve already got the metropolitan and the ruckus; any guesses as to what the name for this one will be?
scooter pic of the day: hope things are going okay with isaac down in louisiana. here’s a beautiful honda trail cub 90, owned by bob from lafayette, louisiana.
scooter pic of the day: on a walk with our dog the other night and passed this 80’s era honda cruiser in newton. i couldn’t quite figure out what it was (a honda magna, perhaps?), but it looks like it’s been well utilized.
scooter pic of the day: a honda spree (sold in the u.s. during the mid 80’s), spotted a few days ago on peaks island, near portland, maine. in the background: the largest baseball bat i’ve ever seen attached to an old milk delivery truck.
