vespa lx50
my guess is that new lx50’s run currently cost about $3500 or so. starting in july 2011, here’s what i’ve seen from boston’s CL. these prices make the lx50 one of the most expensive used 50cc scooters out there. is it worth it? i dunno; i’ve yet to ride one of these and see if it feels appreciably better than other modern scoots.
3/13/13: $1600, back bay (boston), 2009 with “low” miles, red. this seems like a pretty good deal for a used, late model vespa, especially since it’s right near the beginning of riding season.
8/30/12: $2000, newton, 2008 with 600 miles, black.
8/29/12: $2400, marblehead, 2007 with 2400 miles, light blue.
8/28/12: $1999, brighton/symphony, 2007 with 4500 miles, black. new rear tire.
8/23/12: $2200, boston, 2007 with 3000 miles, silver. a few scratches.

6/3/12: $1800, boston, 2008 with 1200 miles, black. this seems like a good price, though this seller clearly has a number of bikes in a storage facility that are for sale, and it smells a little fishy. that said, this bike apparently comes with it’s certificate of origin, so that’s comforting.
5/15/12: $2000, holliston, 2008 with 900 miles, red with tan seat. comes with rack that mounts on trailer hitch so you can transport the scooter (assuming you have a hitch).
5/3/12: $2999, needham, 2011 with no miles (never been driven), espresso bronze. pricey, but if it still runs perfect and doesn’t need carb cleaning, it’s a nice deal over a new one.

8/4/11: $2799, beverly, 2006 with 629 miles, red. dealer. overpriced? maybe. but at least it’s from a reputable dealer, so there’s some security in that. 800 or 900 dollars worth of security? probably not.
8/2/11: $1700, boston, 2008 with 3100 miles, red. comes with windshield, storage trunk and upgraded mirrors. this looks like a pretty low price for a vespa…. as long as it runs well, this scooter should sell fast.
